musical instrument restoration

Fiddlin’ Red Simpson worked for the Dobro and Rickenbacker companies in California building their famous instruments.  “I personally knew the Doperya family and Mr. Rickenbacker,” Red said.  “I did everything in the factory that pertained to making guitars, but my main job was as the fret driver. I completed over 40 fret boards a day for two years, which adds up to 20,000 finger boards.” He moved to Oregon where he obtained employment at a music store.  Red has worked as a luthier, restoring mandolins, guitars, violins, banjos, and other instruments for over 40 years. Currently, Red owns Fiddlin’ Red’s Music in Sandpoint, Idaho.
